No mercy with Hansi! Flick's Barca is a brutal steamroller

Barcelona brush Sevilla aside (5-1) on Sunday night thanks to another sensational performance

Imagine Barcelona's undisputed creativity with a touch of Bayern Munich's German-like persistence and brutality.

Well, you don't have to imagine anything anymore since the Blaugrana have been precisely like that after Hansi Flick's arrival.

The German tactician has imposed some of that well-known German (football) philosophy and mentality into this new Barca, who resembles an actual steamroller.

The Catalans ran over Sevilla on Sunday night, 5-1, on the wings of another brutal display, thus returning to the top of the table ahead of El Clasico next Saturday.

It was all over after just half an hour at the Olimpic Stadium in Barcelona, as the visitors conceded three goals - Lewandowski scored a brace (opener from the spot), and Pedri added another. Torre sealed the deal with a late brace for Barca's ninth victory of the season, with just one defeat (to Osasuna).

Before Flick's reign, Barcelona were excellent, too, but would simply stutter at some point or, at least, relax and slow down in such circumstances. Alas, this new Barca has no mercy!

Those 33 goals they have scored in the opening ten rounds tell a story of their own. And what makes their success even more significant is the fact they have many different, mighty weapons in their arsenal.

Wings like Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fati, strikers like Lewa, operators like Pedri, attacking midfielders like Raphinha... You never know from which of those comes the lethal danger.

Carlo Ancelotti is surely aware of it as El Clasico is approaching fast. Unlike Barca, Real Madrid are struggling against minnows like Celta and will need much more and much better if they want to celebrate at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday. That would be Hansi Flick's first El Clasico - he'll be eager to make an early statement!
