The striker is attracting interest from at least five clubs, both locally and abroad, after an outstanding 2025/26 season that saw him emerge as the league's most productive attacker.
Maina, who returned to the second tier at the start of the campaign, scored 25 goals and provided 11 assists in 35 matches, finishing the season with an impressive 36 goal contributions.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, with clubs from Tanzania, Zambia, and South Sudan all making inquiries about his availability.
Mozzart Sport understands that newly promoted Tanzanian Premier League side Kagera Sugar were the first club to make contact with the player's representatives in April.
The Tanzanian outfit, whose chief executive officer, Ronald Okoth, is Kenyan, reportedly expressed interest in securing the striker's services should they achieve promotion to the top flight.
Following their successful promotion campaign, discussions are understood to have progressed positively.
Away from Tanzania, newly promoted South Sudan Premier League side Kator FC have also registered interest in the former SS Assad striker as they seek to assemble a competitive squad ahead of their top-flight campaign.
Interest in Maina continues to grow across the region. On Thursday, relegated Zambian club Trident approached the player's camp, with negotiations between the two parties now underway.
Mozzart Sport can exclusively reveal that Maina is seeking a signing-on fee of KSh800,062 (approximately USD 6,180) and a monthly salary of KSh150,000 (approximately USD 1,159) from any club interested in securing his signature.
Sources close to the negotiations indicate that the player's camp would also prefer the signing-on fee to be paid before he commits to a contract.
In addition, the former 3K FC forward and his representatives are seeking a deal of no less than three years, depending on the long-term ambitions and project presented by prospective clubs.
Back home, several FKF Premier League clubs are also monitoring the situation closely.
Bandari are understood to be keen on the striker, while Murang'a Seal have joined the race as they seek a replacement for league top scorer Joe Waithera, who recently completed a move to South Sudanese champions Jamus FC.
Posta Rangers and Ulinzi Stars have also expressed interest in the player, who was crowned the 2025 Division Two Northern Zone Player of the Year before his rise to prominence in the NSL.
Beyond salary and contract length, Maina's camp is reportedly seeking further clarification on performance-related incentives, including winning bonuses, match bonuses, and goal-scoring rewards, before making a final decision.
Other important considerations include medical insurance, accommodation arrangements, transport provisions, and additional benefits that may form part of the package offered.
Fortune Sacco are resigned to losing their star attacker and have already begun exploring potential replacements ahead of the new season.
