Migori, under the stewardship of Sammy Otulo, will be eager to bounce back to winning ways after being held to a 1-1 draw by 3K FC
After a solitary Saturday fixture on 1 November, which ushered in the new month and saw Kibera Black Stars climb to the summit of the National Super League standings, action intensifies on Sunday, 2 November, with five captivating encounters lined up for Round Six.
All eyes will be on Vapour Grounds in Ngong, where joint league leaders Migori Youth square off against debutants Equity FC in what promises to be a pulsating encounter.
Migori, under the stewardship of Sammy Otulo, will be eager to bounce back to winning ways after being held to a 1-1 draw by 3K FC in the Mozzart Bet Derby on Wednesday, 29 October, a result that ended their four-match winning streak.
The Mozzart Bet backed side will be targeting maximum points to reclaim outright leadership of the 20-team table with 16 points, though they are aware that any slip-up could see them drop to fourth should Mombasa United and Naivas FC win their respective fixtures.
Coach Otulo will once again rely on the in-form attacking duo of Syphas Otieno and Elvis Wafula to unlock the Equity backline.
However, the hosts under coach John “Kamara” Mbezwa are equally motivated to end their two-match winless streak and chase a second victory of the campaign.
On Wednesday, 29 October, the Bankers rallied from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw away to Mwatate United, a result that lifted them to 11th on four points.
A win over Migori could catapult Equity to seven points and into the top half of the standings.
With both teams coming off midweek draws and meeting for the first time, the clash is set to be a thrilling contest.
At the Sudi Stadium, third-placed Mombasa United lock horns with Nzoia Sugar FC in another high-stakes encounter.
Gilbert Selebwa’s charges will be looking to build on their midweek victory over Naivas FC, a crucial 2-1 win that reignited their promotion charge after a setback loss to 3K FC the previous weekend.
The result saw them move within a point of joint leaders Kibera Black Stars and Migori Youth.
However, they face a stern test against a stubborn Nzoia Sugar outfit, unbeaten in their last four matches though plagued by a string of draws.
Coach Charles Odero will be eager to inspire his team back to winning ways after stalemates against Mwatate United, Fortune Sacco, FC Talanta, and Kibera Black Stars.
History slightly favours Mombasa, who collected four points from last season’s two meetings, a 1-0 win at home in October 2024 and a barren draw in June this year.
Victory for Selebwa’s side could propel them to the league summit on 15 points, while a win for Nzoia would lift them into the top four with 10 points, keeping them within striking distance of the frontrunners.
In Embu, 3K FC welcome Mwatate United in what promises to be another fiercely contested battle.
Buoyed by their hard-fought 1-1 draw away to Migori Youth in the midweek derby, coach Francis Chege’s men will be out to extend their unbeaten home run and secure a third victory of the campaign.
They have yet to drop a point at home, having previously beaten Mombasa United and Darajani Gogo convincingly.
For Mwatate United, the struggle continues as they seek their first win of the season.
Coach Evans Mafuta, who recently returned to the helm, will be desperate to inspire his side after three losses and two draws since the season began on September 27.
With 3K looking to maintain their home dominance and Mwatate chasing their first maximum points of the campaign, this first-ever meeting promises end-to-end drama.
At the Gusii Stadium, Gucha Stars host Fortune Sacco in a clash that pits contrasting ambitions.
Under former Shabana tactician Sammy Okoth, the Kisii-based side have impressed in their debut NSL campaign, securing a 2-1 win over Vihiga United and a goalless draw with FC Talanta.
They now face a Fortune Sacco side desperate to find consistency after an erratic start to the season.
The Kirinyaga based club have suffered defeats to Mombasa United and Naivas, drawn with MCF and Nzoia Sugar, and registered their only victory against Equity FC last week.
Both sides sit 11th and 13th respectively, and with only a point separating them, Sunday’s clash offers a perfect opportunity for either to climb into the top half of the table.
Western rivalry takes centre stage at the Mumboha Grounds as Luanda Villa host Vihiga United in a hotly anticipated derby.
Separated by just a point on the table, Luanda 16th with four points and Vihiga 17th with three, both sides will be eager to turn their fortunes around.
Coach Leonard Swaleh’s Villa will be determined to bounce back after a shock 1-0 defeat to returning Soy United in midweek, while Milton Kidiga’s Vihiga United will be searching for their first win of the campaign after managing only three draws so far.
Last season, Luanda held the upper hand in this fixture, drawing 1-1 away in Kisumu before edging the reverse tie 1-0.
With local bragging rights and valuable points at stake, the derby promises to be a fiercely contested affair.
All Sunday matches are scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m.
