Sources close to Mozzart Sport indicate the 44-year-old will be announced by the club in due time, plugging the hole left after the sacking of former head coach Etienne Ndayiragije earlier this week.
Ndayiragije, who led the Law Enforcers to their first league title last season, left the club on Monday, 27 October, in the aftermath of the team's disappointing exit from the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League.
Police bowed out of the competition on Friday, 24 October after a suffering a 4-1 aggregate defeat to Sudan’s Al Hilal, where they lost their home first-leg 1-0, before losing 3-1 in the return leg played in Benghazi, Libya.
The club, in dispatching the Burundian, stated that its board had unanimously agreed to take a different direction, with appointment of a new man imminent.
Their week-long search has landed on another foreigner Stojanovic, who is highly thought of at Police, having flexed his muscles in the continent by leading Ugandan side SC Villa to its first Premier League title since 2004 during the 2023-2024 season.
A UEFA A licence coach, Stojanovic also comes in with valuable knowledge and experience of African football, having served under fellow countryman Micho Sredojevic as assistant coach of Egytian giants Zamalek, and Zambia's national football team.
Former SC Villa coach Dusan Stojanovic is set to be appointed as head coach for Kenya Police FC.

Stojanovic, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Studies, last held a post as assistant manager of Serbian Superliga side Zeleznicar Pancevo in November 2024, before leaving in January after managing only five games.
His other jobs have seen him serve similar assistant roles at FK Rad, Vojvodina, Krasnodar, Zarkovo and FK Cukaricki, but with a head coaching position at OFK Beograd.
Sources indicate he is likely to watch Kenya Police's weekend league game against Posta Rangers on Sunday, 2 November at Police Sacco, where it will be managed by interim manager David Bujego.
