Mozzart Sport understands that changes to the technical bench are afoot at Ruaraka, and it is very likely that Okere will be among the victims.
In a short brief to this publication, Gacheru said Okere and his bench had been given enough room and support to get the team to a steady path towards the FKF Premier League title, but were still losing games, and unable to find footing.
Gacheru’s statement came after The Brewers had suffered their heaviest defeat this season, going down 4-0 to AFC Leopards at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Reacting to the loss, which witnessed Tusker commit big errors in defense, the administrator said: “We have given the Technical Bench enough room and support to get the team on a steady path to the KPL Championship, but we are still losing games, unable to find our footing. Change is now inevitable.
Congratulations to AFC, for the first time in many years, we are seeing an AFC team with purpose. Tusker FC is a team with legacy, and it represents a big brand, we can not allow it to continue being a punching bag for poorer teams in the league.”

Okere, currently in his second season with Tusker as head coach, has overseen the worst scorelines in the club’s recent memory, top of them being a 7-1 thrashing to Sofapaka in May last year.
After an underwhelming first season in charge of the club, where Tusker registered their lowest points tally in five years, Gacheru and the board surprised many by offering Okere another year, with the hope of him turning the fortunes around.
However, the trust and patience has not been rewarded, with Tusker losing the most games in the top-half so far this season (six), and already cut adrift from leaders AFC Leopards and record champions Gor Mahia.
In addition, Okere’s side, despite being boosted by a host of signings during the off-season transfer window, have scored just 13 goals from 16 matches played, and are on a negative goal-difference.
On Sunday, the team’s struggles on both ends of the pitch were laid bare, making Okere’s tenure clearly untenable.
