Burundian centre back Moussa Omar is hoping to win the coveted Football Kenya Federation Premier League title in his second stint with the 2009 winners Sofapaka.

Omar, rejoined Batoto Ba Mungu last month from Rwandese top tier side Police and subsequently, penned a two-year long deal.

This is not the first time the defender who can play as right back will be wearing the Sofapaka shirt as he previously served the club between January 2018 to August 2019.

In his first stint with the club, Omar came close to winning a title as Sofapaka finished second in the Shield Cup after losing 3-2 to Kariobangi Sharks in the final staged at Kasarani Stadium in October 2018.

He believes his second spell with the club will be characterized by massive success and titles despite warming up for the new season poorly in the second edition of the Elite Pre-Season Cup tournament.

Sofapaka managed just a point in the tournament that concluded on Friday with Bidco United taking home the title.

The team has good ambitions going into the new season. They want to win the league or the cup which is good. They have a good project which attracted to rejoin,” he told Mozzart Sport.

Omar’s first stint with Sofapaka didn’t end well as the defender through his lawyer Ndayambaje Gilbert sued the club for unpaid salary.

This forced FIFA to compel the club to pay him within a certain period or face sanctions which included a transfer ban.

Omar who later got his dues says the acrimony triggered by the fall out and litigation is water under the bridge and is looking forward to the new season.

I am glad we solved that and justice was served. Both the club and I have put that matter to rest. I couldn’t have signed if we had not resolved it in an amicable manner,” he added.
