K'Ogalo tactician says Mumias playing surface is in a bad state.

Gor Mahia head coach Vaz Pinto has admitted that the match against Vihiga United was far from an easy one despite picking a 1-0 win as the playing surface was not it the best of conditions.

A Clifton Miheso first-half goal from distance is all that Gor needed to get a fourth straight league win and in the process closed in on the leading pack in the FKF Premier League. Many had written them off after a difficult start to the season but they have managed to crawl back and are now firmly in the title race.

In his post-match interview, the Portuguese tactician admitted that the match tactician said the Mumias complex playing surface made the match harder for both teams. He however expressed his happiness at picking maximum points and also for registering another clean-sheet.

It was a tough game, the pitch is not easy to play but I am happy because the players understood what we needed to do. We won, got three important points, and one more victory in a row for us and it is important the clean sheet is equally important and we now focus on our game against Wazito,” he told Mozzart Sport.

The win took Gor Mahia’s tally for the season to 28 and in the process, they leapfrogged Bandari to fifth in the league. They are just seven points off table toppers, KCB and AFC Leopards albeit with a game in hand.

Up next for Gor Mahia is a league match against Wazito FC on Monday afternoon at the Utalii Grounds. This is a rescheduled first-leg match. Heading into the game, Gor will be seeking a fifth win on the spin while Wazito will be looking for their first win since the league resumed. They lost the first game to Sofapaka before settling for a one-all draw with Tusker FC.
