After The Gambia humbling, Benni McCarthy's men redeemed themselves with a proper show over the minnows
Kenya men's national football team, Harambee Stars, wrapped up their September pair of FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a comfortable 5-0 victory over Seychelles at the Kasarani Stadium on Tuesday.
At the heart of the rout was striker Ryan Ogam, who scored his first national team brace, and Yanga midfielder Duke Abuya, whose pinpoint deliveries gave Kenya a route to a routine win.
Mozzart Sport looks at how individual players performed in the game.

The man making his first national team appearance since November 2021 was largely untested on his return. Could have done with an afternoon nap.

Manzur OkwaroDefense
What position can't this youngster play? After being moved to midfield throughout CHAN, Benni McCarthy, who was missing Abud Omar, thought to slot Manzur back to his natural position, and he delivered. Giving his all is all he does.

Sylvester OwinoDefense
Solid as you would expect. On a day when there was less running for the defense, his long range of passing was on full display.

Promised to learn and improve from The Gambia game, and showed his dominance on a comfortable day. He was the more enterprising center back on this occasion, and got rewarded with a fine headed goal. Way to redeem himself.

Rooney OnyangoDefense
Another man that redeemed himself after a fairly below-average outing on Friday. He provided width on the right-hand side, and his enterprise reaped rewards when he lofted a cross into the box, which Olunga powered home.

Alpha Onyango Midfield
He was praised for his significant impact against The Gambia on Friday and rightfully earned his starting spot in midfield. Asked to thread passes, the Gor Mahia man played the right notes, and often found himself in the right areas. He will however rub his head over some shots that went over the bar.

Duke AbuyaMidfield
His work-rate on most occasions goes under the radar, but there will not be any arguments around his star show against Seychelles. Needing a goal to settle some nerves, the Yanga man delivered with two pin-point deliveries from set-pieces that Ogam and Sichenje headed home. He was also involved in the third goal after Ogam rebounded his effort that came off the post.

Slightly underwhelming on this day. His work off the ball did not drop a level, but his execution in forward areas left a lot to be desired. There were many stray passes from him.

Job OchiengAttack
Solid outing in what has his first start in a Harambee Stars shirt. His pace, one McCarthy hinted at, was on show on the left, and so was his trickery, which allowed him get past his markers with ease. A foul on him at the edge of the box resulted in Sichenje's goal from the resulting freekick.

Ryan OgamAttack
Another day, another Ogam goal - only that this time they were two. His movement in the box saw him nod the opener from a freekick, and the Austria-bound man was at the right place to rebound in Abuya's effort for his first brace in national team colors. His work off the ball saw him win a penalty late in the half, which Olunga converted. The only blot on his man-of-the-match performance is that he did not walk off the pitch with the matchball.

Michael OlungaAttack
Say what you will about the skipper, but he will always find a way to still score. Olunga looked hungry from the first whistle, and ended the day with two goals - a proper penalty, and a powerful header in the second half. The Engineer is just one goal away from being Kenya's joint top goal-scorer. What more do you want?

Had a few chances at goal in the second half after his introduction at the hour mark, but could not direct them goal-wards.

Bonface MuchiriAttack
Slotted in at right wing after coming on, and helped bring some pace to the game. Notably, his movement off the ball created space for Rooney Onyango to cross in Kenya's fifth goal.

Slotted in at midfield, and struggled to bring some stability. He was later booked for a needless foul.

Lewis BandiMidfield
In the context of the game, he came fairly late to make a mark. No fair rating.

No fair rating as he was brought on late.
