Heading into the clash, Posta had seen their unbeaten run come to an end courtesy of Gor Mahia, who put three second-half goals past them on Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium. The defeat saw the Mailmen drop from the top of the table to third place.

Murang’a Seal, on the other hand, had bigger problems to deal with. The team had suffered four defeats in their five previous matches and were desperate for points against Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo’s side. However, despite their late rally, they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Seal’s troubles deepened in the 23rd minute when Caleb Olilo opened the scoring for Posta. The former AFC Leopards forward danced past a couple of Seal defenders before firing home with his left foot for a deserved opener.

Eleven minutes later, defender Faustine Ojiambo grabbed his second goal of the season, rising highest to head home a Jackson Dwang corner and double the hosts’ advantage.

Posta carried their 2-0 lead into the break.

Seal came back from the interval with renewed determination, making two substitutions shortly after the restart. Levis Wanjala and Lucas Maina replaced Paul Osama and Michael Owen to inject more attacking threat.

Maina’s introduction proved to be a masterstroke as he pulled one back for the visitors in the 67th minute, giving them hope of salvaging a result.

Their comeback was completed in the 75th minute when former Wazito FC forward Joe Waithira levelled the scores.

The draw lifts Posta Rangers to 11 points, two behind league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz, and they now sit second on the table. Murang’a Seal remain 17th with four points.

Next up for Posta is an away clash against Kenya Police FC on Sunday at the Police Sacco Grounds, while Murang’a Seal will host KCB FC on the same day in Murang’a.
