PSG stun Barcelona with a late winner
Reading Time: 4min | Wed. 01.10.25. | 23:59
Even without their best players, the Parisians managed to get a huge win in Barcelona
Before the game between Barcelona and PSG, a traditional lunch between the club was organized and the Catalans were the hosts. President Juan Laporta choose Via Veneto restaurant, and served his guests langoustine salad, sauteed mushrooms with baby squid, three beef fillets with three sauces and fig carpaccio with fig leaf ice cream. Later that night, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi served an ice cold 90 minute winner to his counterpart and celebrated another win over Laporta: Barcelona – PSG 1-2. Barcelona’s wizard Pedri admitted that he and his teammates are looking for a ‘revenge’ against PSG, who eliminated them from last year’s Champions League before eventually winning it. And the home team did everything they could to get all three points against their former boss Luis Enrique. They attacked, they had two excellent opportunities, they faced injury crippled PSG (without Dembele, Doue, Marquinhos and Kvaratskhelia) but in the end they failed as substitute Gonzalo Ramos stunned the home crowd with a late winner.

The Catalans missed Raphinha, keeper Joan Garcia, Gavi and Fermin Lopez but what’s worse, they had Lamine Yamal who was not 100%. The Spanish wunderkind felt the consequences of his injury and lack of playing time and gave his best, but against such a fantastic left back like Nuno Mendes he couldn’t do much. Yamal created the best opportunity in the game for Barcelona but that was it. He tried really hard to secure a second yellow card for his keeper Mendes but failed at the end. On the other hand Luis Enrique fielded some French kids instead of injured stars and they were as good as Spanish kids, both the goal scorer Mayulu and Mbaye.
There were no chances for the first 10 minutes and then guests attacked Barca. Nuno Mendes curled the ball perfectly, but Zabarnyi's header went over the bar in the 12th minute. And three minutes later one fantastic inside pass from Jamal created a perfect opportunity for Torres who did everything right but Zabarnyi came in the last second to clear the ball off the line. But the second time Torres didn’t miss. Vitinha lost the ball in midfield and Pedri, played Rashford on the left. The Englishman crossed hard in front of goal, and Ferran Torres tackled the ball to beat Chevalier: 1-0, 18th minute. Only then PSG started to attack and in the 38th minute came the equalizer. Nuno Mendes played a one-two with Mbaye before crashing down the middle from 30 meters. He played Mayulu on the edge of the box, and Cubarsi slipped in the worst possible time, allowing Mayulu to have a clear chance and he used it. Barca were shaken and the Parisian had two good opportunities through Barcola and Hakimi by the end of the half.

Home fans expected that their team will again attack in the second half, but the guests kept their momentum. Still, Barca had a marvelous chance in the 65th minute but Olmo’s shot decision was very bad. Ferran Torres crossed hard in front of goal. Zabarnyi returned the ball straight through the middle, and then Olmo came surging in. He could choose where to shoot and he decided to do it in direction of Zabarnyi. Hakimi came in front of his teammate and saved the shot, but the ball would still hit the Ukrainian player. Bad decision by Olmo. He will regret his missed chance as the shock happened near the end. Kang-In Lee hit the post in the 83rd minute and Barca players and fans probably thought that it was all over. But then disaster struck. Vitinha passed to Hakimi on the right side. The Moroccan's perfect cross is met in the box by Gonçalo Ramos, who crossed his shot magnificently to beat Szczesny! Game over.
