Bournemouth's forward is on Luis Enrique's shortlist
If we focus solely on the attacking side of the squad, it is difficult to imagine how Paris Saint-Germain could improve much further. Yet Luis Enrique apparently believes there is still room for growth, as PSG have continued their long-standing strategy of identifying and recruiting young, dynamic French talent. This time, the name highlighted in bold on their shortlist is Eli Junior Kroupi. The 19-year-old Bournemouth forward arrived on the south coast from Lorient in February 2026 in a deal worth 13 million euros. However, Bournemouth immediately loaned him back to the French club until June, a decision that proved highly successful.
Kroupi, the son of former Ivory Coast footballer Eli Kroupi, repaid that trust by scoring 13 goals. Unsurprisingly, he would not come cheap now, especially considering English clubs are rarely known for selling their prized assets at bargain prices. Still, PSG have both the resources and the willingness to spend heavily when they identify a player they truly want. The club has already shown it is unafraid to invest significant sums in young prospects. In 2023/24, they paid 45 million euros to acquire Bradley Barcola from Lyon. A year later, they spent 50 million on Desire Doue from Rennes. They also enjoy a strong working relationship with Bournemouth, having paid 63 million for centre-back Illia Zabarnyi last season.
The question, therefore, is not whether PSG can afford Kroupi, but how determined they are to sign him. There is little doubt that the youngster would find it difficult to ignore an approach from the two-time reigning European champions, even though earning regular playing time at the Parc des Princes would undoubtedly be more challenging. His versatility could work in his favor. Although naturally a centre-forward, Kroupi is capable of dropping deeper into midfield and linking play, a role he frequently performed during his time with Bournemouth. Should PSG complete the deal, they would have an attack built for the long term. Barcola is 23, Doue is 20, Goncalo Ramos is 24, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is 25, and only Ousmane Dembele, at 29, falls outside the club's emerging young core. For a team already dominating Europe, adding Kroupi could be another investment in ensuring that success continues for years to come.
