For the first time, the Mozzart Bet Cup final had made its way to Kwale County, and judging by the turnout, the football fans had embraced the occasion with both arms wide open.

Long before the final whistle blew, before Tusker FC ended a decade-long wait for the title, and before celebrations erupted across the pitch, there was a feeling that this was more than just another football match.

It was an event.

From the moment fans streamed through the gates, the venue carried an atmosphere usually reserved for major international occasions.

The well-manicured playing surface gleamed under the coastal skies, giving the stadium an unmistakably global feel.

As many fans joked while admiring the pristine conditions, this was the closest they had come to "touching actual grass" in a football setting.

The crowd kept growing as kick-off approached.

Despite intermittent weather that threatened to interrupt proceedings, there was a remarkable calm around the venue.

The rain came and went, but the energy never faded.

The day began with the third-place playoff, where the home side, Bandari, delighted local supporters with a convincing 2-0 victory over KCB.

With much of the crowd rallying behind the Dockers, every tackle, pass, and goal was met with deafening cheers. It proved to be the perfect curtain-raiser and set the tone for what would become a memorable afternoon.

Away from the pitch, a host of high-profile guests had made the trip to Kwale.

Among those spotted in attendance were Mozzart Bet Country Manager Sasa Krneta, Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga and his partner Edith Akinyi, Young Africans President Mohammed Hersi, Tusker chairman Charles Gacheru, his Kenya Police counterpart Nyale Munga, and celebrated media personalities Rashid Abdalla and Lulu Hassan.

Yet, the stars on the touchline had to compete with the entertainment unfolding on stage.

Before the finalists emerged from the tunnel, VJ Chris took charge of the atmosphere and immediately understood the assignment.

A carefully curated blend of Swahili hits and coastal sounds transformed the stadium into a giant party.

Then came the live performances.

Chikuzee and Susumila brought the crowd to a standstill with electrifying sets that had fans singing and dancing along to every word.

The performances perfectly reflected the spirit of the Coast, creating a unique fusion of football and culture.

One of the most striking sights was the diversity of the crowd itself. Families, football enthusiasts and first-time match-goers packed the stands, while scores of coastal women dressed in colourful buibuis added a beautiful cultural touch rarely seen in football stadiums.

By the time the players walked onto the pitch for the final, anticipation had reached a fever pitch.

The contest itself delivered.

Against the odds, the Brewers held their nerve to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory over Kenya Police FC and finally reclaim the trophy after ten long years.

When the final whistle sounded, emotion poured onto the field.

Players collapsed to the turf. Members of the technical bench embraced. Fans erupted into celebration.

For many associated with the club, this was not simply another trophy. It was the end of a decade-long journey filled with near misses, frustrations, and unfulfilled ambitions.

The joy was written across every face.

As darkness slowly settled over Kwale and celebrations continued long after the trophy presentation, one thing became abundantly clear: the 2026 Mozzart Bet Cup final will be remembered not only for Tusker's triumph, but also for bringing one of Kenya's biggest football spectacles to the Coast and delivering an unforgettable blend of sport, culture and community.

For one day at least, Kwale was the centre of Kenyan football, and what a show it put on.
