The Portuguese star is reportedly considering buying the famous club

The fantastic career of Cristiano Ronaldo is nearing its end, and when that happens, it will be interesting to see what the Portuguese star decides to pursue next. He has already stated that he is not interested in coaching, but it is unlikely that he will completely step away from football. It is very possible that he will take on a role as an executive or even the head of a club. It is not hard to imagine him in a suit, commanding employees.

Paula Lerin, a correspondent for Mundo Deportivo from Valencia, has explored this very topic—specifically, the rumors that Cristiano Ronaldo is planning to buy Valencia! The historic club from Mestalla, a six-time Spanish champion and winner of both the UEFA Cup and the Cup Winners’ Cup, is experiencing incredibly difficult times under the leadership of Singaporean businessman Peter Lim.

For years, Valencia fans have been frustrated that their club is not competitive enough to secure a place in European competitions. This current season marks the sixth consecutive year that Valencia has failed to qualify for Europe, with the team’s poor performance being among the worst in its history. At one point, Los Murcielagos (The Bats) were even at the bottom of the La Liga table. However, with the arrival of Carlos Corberan, a former Valencia academy player, as head coach, the team has shown signs of improvement and has moved into more stable waters.

Valencia currently sits 16th in the league table, four points above the relegation zone. If they manage to stay up, many things could change.

This wouldn’t be the first time a famous player has bought a club in Spain—let’s not forget that Ronaldo Nazario owns Real Valladolid. However, it would be fascinating to see how Valencia fans would react if their new owner was a former superstar of Real Madrid, one of their biggest rivals.

Cristiano Ronaldo has had no previous connections with Valencia, except for the fact that, as a player for Real Madrid and Juventus, he scored 15 goals and provided five assists in 20 matches against them, celebrating victories 12 times, with six draws. But business is business, and there is no room for emotions. Given Ronaldo’s winning mentality and ambition, perhaps he is exactly the kind of leader Valencia needs to return to its glory days when the club was a major force in both Spanish and European football.

The price for buying Valencia has previously been estimated at 450 million euros. This is not an amount beyond Ronaldo’s reach, especially with the support of an investment fund and sponsors who would be drawn to his name. Reports have already suggested that Saudi Arabia’s royal family, specifically Prince Mohammed bin Salman, could back Ronaldo in this venture.

And since his move to Saudi Arabia two years ago, his salary has been around 200 millions per year. If he has been saving, it won’t be a problem.

Now, all that remains is for Valencia to secure survival in La Liga.
