Tottenham defender was first on the list of potential reinforcements, but it seems the Rossonerri would turn to another solution

AC Milan have struggled to reach a deal with Tottenham's defender Emerson Royal and are on the verge of withdrawing from it, the Italian media report on Friday.

According to them, they may drop the Brazilian right-back in order to sign robust Serbian defender Strahinja Pavlovic.

Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia insist that Pavlovic, 23, is becoming a higher priority for the Rossonerri than Emerson Royal.

The versatile RB Salzburg defender - who is capable of playing both as a centre-back and a full-back, would likely agree on a €1.5m-a-year contract with the Italian giants. He also attracted the atention of the Premier League side Brentford, but no deal has been sealed yet.

New Milan boss Paulo Fonseca has been using Pierre Kalulu as a right-back during his first training sessions as Milan coach, so it probably means that Pavlovic could find his place in the centre of defence.
