Santi says 'Avanti' - Mexican 'ruthless executor' launches AC Milan past Verona

Santiago Gimenez won the game for the Rossoneri at San Siro and continued proving that the Serie A side "hit the bullseye" by bringing him from Feyenoord - 1-0

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and AC Milan's management seem to have "hit the bullseye" when they splashed out €32 million and brought Santiago Gimenez from the Dutch Feyenoord! After scoring his maiden goal with the Rossoneri in the previous Serie A round a week ago against Empoli, the Mexican netted again tonight, this time a much more important goal, as only his effort separated the San Siro crew and Verona - 1-0.

Sergio Conceicao's men did not shine, to say the least, and even though they were dominant in possession and attempts, they had a serious problem with efficiency. Out of their 18 shots, only three went on target. Gimenez's first goal in the 33rd minute was disallowed as the 23-year-old was offside, while Yunus Musah wasted a decent chance in the dying minutes of the first half.

Seeing that his boys couldn't break the visitors easily, Conceicao sent his major offensive firepower, embodied in Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic - both surprisingly benched - to the pitch. And the Portuguese magician ultimately created a perfect situation for Gimenez, who easily headed the ball into the empty net a quarter of an hour before the end.

The Rossoneri managed to defend the lead and secure three points, which moved them to seventh spot in the league, as they are breathing down Fiorentina and Juventus' necks. Conversely, Verona continues their relegation battle, sitting three points above the "red line."
