Going into the match, Shabana were eighth on the log with a seven-match unbeaten streak, but with an inconsistent run, including two consecutive draws in their previous matches.
The Bankers, on the other hand, were second on the log and in impressive form, having secured four wins in their previous five matches, including a hat-trick of wins in their last three.

The visitors began the match on a high with Biron ‘N’Golo’ Otieno linking up well with Hezekiah Omuri and Humphrey Obina on the flanks to cause KCB early problems.
Shabana’s advances in KCB’s goal bore fruit in the 13th minute when Kevin Omundi stepped up to strike the ball into the back of the net, breaking the deadlock.
Buoyed by the goal, Shabana upped the ante through Derrick Oketch and Erick Otieno, but Arnold Monzobo in the KCB goal prevented further damage.
However, Monzobo could do so little in the 23rd minute when Obina stepped up with a sublime free kick from the left side that found the top bin and doubled Shabana’s lead, giving the Peter Okidi-coached side an advantage heading into the halftime break.

The raid for maximum points has been a success. Pesa ya krisi nimewapa.
In the second half, KCB came back a better side, seemingly boosted by Matano’s halftime pep talk and pulled one back through the on-form Kelvin Etemesi in the 49th minute.
KCB enjoyed a good spell after the goal, but their fire was extinguished in the 61st minute when Omuri stepped up to restore Shabana’s two-goal advantage.
The rest of the match saw KCB trying to chase the game, but the Mark Okola-marshalled Shabana backline stood tall to protect their lead until the final whistle was blown.
With the win, Shabana moved up to joint top on the log with 23 points, the same as Gor Mahia, who play Nairobi United on Sunday, 21 December.
KCB, on the other hand, dropped to fourth on the log with 21 points as the title race continues to heat up.
