Liverpool drop points at Anfield after a shocking defeat to Nottingham Forest (0-1)

No one saw that coming, but only four games into the new Premier League season and Liverpool are trailing in the title race to Manchester City.

After three opening victories, Arne Slot's suffered a shocking 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

This result will surely disappoint the Reds' fanbase, not just because of a poor result, but especially because of the wasteful performance of Mohamed Salah and his teammates.

Nuno Espirito Santo's 4-4-1-1 formation proved to be a genuine cryptonite for the home side, struggling to find back of the net.

Trent Alexander Arnold and Luis Diaz were causing lots of problems for the rival's defense in the beginning, with the latter getting close to score early on. He cut inside from the corner and fired a shot against the base of the near post.

Van Dijk's header and Salah's right-footed shot also promised a lot, but there were no changes on the scoreboard.

On the other hand, Forest's first real chance of the game was a really great one. Morgan Gibbs-White launched an excellent counter and found Chris Wood on the left. He hit it low, but it lacked the power needed to beat Allison down to his left.

Frustrated with 0-0, Slot opted for several substitutions and shifted TAA into a central midfield, but it couldn't change the fate of his side and their lacklustre display.

Instead, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored a remarkable goal in the transition. Elanga linked up with Hudson-Odoi, and he bent it into the far bottom right-hand corner for a deserved 1-0 win.
