Sorry, United, it wasn't him, it was you: Hojlund scores on his debut, as Napoli crush Viola

De Bruyne also found the net, bagging his second Serie A goal in Conte's crew's convincing 3-1 triumph over Fiorentina

It's not just another exception. No, it's a rule. A rule that says that a player who leaves Man United instantly starts putting in terrific performances for his new team. If Scott McTominay, Antony, and Marcus Rashford's cases weren't good evidence, then Rasmus Hojlund's case has to be!

After spending only 14 minutes on the pitch, the Dane netted on his debut with Napoli and proved that he never forgot how to score goals. It was all United's fault.

The striker doubled the Neapolitans' lead, which Kevin De Bruyne gave them in the sixth minute from the spot, scoring his second goal with the club, while another debutant, the defender Sam Beukema, made it 3-0 shortly after the break.

Fiorentina's captain, Luca Ranieri, set the final score 3-1, netting a consolation goal for the home side in the 79th minute.

After just three minutes in Napoli's jersey, Rasmus Hojlund found himself in a massive chance, but his close-range attempt was cleared from the goal line. However, the Neapolitans' attack continued, Frank Anguissa went down in the box after Pietro Comuzzo's tackle, and the ref Luca Zufferli pointed to the spot. Kevin De Bruyne was impeccable, scoring the opener for the visitors and his second goal in the current Serie A campaign.

Fourteen minutes into the game, Hojlund was once again in a colossal opportunity, but this time, the Dane didn't miss! Leonardo Spinazzola sent an ideal pass for the ex-Man United man, and he easily beat David De Gea in a one-on-one situation, doubling Napoli's lead.

Still, the Spanish custodian shone ten minutes later, when he superbly stopped De Bruyne's effort that could have easily completed the Belgian's brace.

Once the initial shock passed, Fiorentina started playing, but their primary offensive weapons, Moise Kean and Edin Dzeko, hardly found space between Napoli's skilful defenders, so La Viola finished the first half without a single attempt on target.

Napoli's dominance continued after the break as well. Only five minutes into the second half, Matteo Politano had a colossal chance, but De Gea made another great save. Still, the visitors got a corner kick, which another debutant in Antonio Conte's squad, Sam Beukema, exploited to score his maiden goal with his new team and increase the Neapolitans edge to 3-0.

Considering their comfortable lead, Napoli became slightly complacent, while their manager subbed out both De Bruyne and Hojlund, letting them rest and enjoy their magnificent evening in Tuscany.

By the end of the match, Fiorentina managed to reduce the gap over their captain Luca Ranieri (even though they had more than one massive chance), while Napoli are now tied with Juventus at the top of the Serie A table.
