STARS ABROAD: Aldrine Kibet opens Celta goal account with brace as Olunga extends scoring run in Qatar

Kibet has had a fruitful week, having made his Harambee Stars debut in the 1-0 loss to Equatorial Guinea on Friday, 14 November in Turkey

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga continued with his resurgence after a tough period with his club Al-Arabi, netting a brace in their team’s 5-1 victory over Qatar SC.

The two teams met in a Qatar Super League (QSL) match on Sunday, 23 November at the Qatar SC Stadium in Doha.

Al-Arabi went into the match on the back of a 3-0 loss to Shamal in the QSL Cup, but had won their previous two league matches; a 1-0 victory over Al Ahli Doha and a 2-0 victory Al Shahaniya, where Olunga scored the second goal.

Al Arabi opened the scoring in the 24th minute through former PSG forward Pablo Sarabia who capitalized on a Rodri assist.

Ten minutes later, the Kenyan international registered his name on the scoreboard, finding the back of the net after he was put through on goal by Isaac Lihadji to double Al-Arabi’s lead.

The visitors were not done yet, as Spanish forward Sarabia grabbed his brace in the 40th minute to guarantee Al-Arabi a 3-0 lead heading to the 15-minute breather.

Al-Arabi picked from where they left it in the first half, as Olunga connected a Rodri pass to seal his brace.

Second half substitute Yazan Al Naimat slotted home in the 80th minute to complete the floodgates of goals. Olunga clocked full time.

With the win, Al-Arabi moved up to sixth on the log with 16 points, nine shy of league leaders Al-Gharafa after ten rounds.

On his part, Olunga is now joint third on the top scorers chart with six goals, in a pack that includes former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino with Al-Rayyan’s Roger Guedes leading the list with 12 goals to his name.

In Spain, Harambee Stars wonderkid Aldrine Kibet scored a brace, as Celta Vigo U19 hammered their Racing Club counterparts 7-2 in a match played on Sunday, 23 November.

Kibet has had a fruitful past ten days, having made his Harambee Stars debut in the 1-0 loss to Equatorial Guinea on Friday, 14 November in Turkey.

As expected, Kenyans have already stormed Celta Vigo’s social media pages to sing Kibet’s praises.

In Denmark, Harambee Stars defender Daniel Anyembe played the full minutes at the heart of dedefence, helping Viborg to secure a 5-2 victory over Vejle.
