On a rainy evening in Cleethorpes, Everton took an early lead through Jacob Beaumont-Clark, but Jamie Walker levelled for Grimsby midway through the first half.
Oduor then gave the Mariners the advantage just before halftime, calmly slotting past goalkeeper Harry Tyrer after a clever through ball from Walker. It was his first goal since joining the League Two side.
After the break, Zak Gilsenan made it 3-1 with a powerful finish before Walker struck again to extend the lead. Everton’s William Tamen pulled one back with a header, but Reece Staunton restored Grimsby’s three-goal cushion with a deflected strike.
George Morgan added a late consolation for the visitors to complete the 5-3 scoreline.
Oduor, who started in midfield, impressed with his link-up play and creativity before being substituted in the second half. The result saw Grimsby end their EFL Trophy campaign on a high, though both sides had already been eliminated from the competition.
The Mariners now turn their attention to their League Two fixture against Barrow on Saturday.
Zak Vyner
Still in England, defender Zak Vyner featured for 90 minutes as Bristol City suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers. Japanese forward Yūki Ōhashi scored the decisive goal in first-half stoppage time to hand the visitors victory.
The loss saw Bristol drop from fourth to seventh on the Championship table with 22 points. They now prepare for Friday’s away clash against Watford.
Johnstone Omurwa
In Morocco, Harambee Stars defender Johnstone Omurwa played the full match as Kawkab Marrakech fell 1-0 to Raja Casablanca at a packed Mohammed V Stadium. The hosts scored the winner from the penalty spot in the 90th minute through Ayoub Maamouri, leaving Omurwa’s side eighth on the table with eight points.
Brian Bwire
In South Africa, Kenyan goalkeepers Ian Otieno and Brian Bwire were both in action. Bwire helped Polokwane City secure a 1-0 away win over Amazulu, a result that lifted them to fifth on the Premier Soccer League table with 19 points.
Ian Otieno
Otieno started for Richards Bay in their 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United. A Tshepo Mabua own goal put Richards Bay ahead in the 68th minute before Gabadinho Mhango equalised eight minutes later. The draw left Richards Bay 11th with 13 points.
