Wanyama, who featured for Tottenham Hotspur between 2016 and 2020, will take part in the pre-match build-up alongside the club’s official stadium announcer Paul Coyte in what is expected to be a nostalgic moment for the North London faithful.
The former Kenyan international remains a popular figure among Spurs fans after making more than 90 appearances during his four-year stay at the club.
Known for his physical presence, composure on the ball, and commanding midfield displays, Wanyama played a key role during one of Tottenham’s most competitive periods under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
One of his most iconic moments in a Spurs shirt came in February 2018 when he unleashed a thunderous long-range strike against Liverpool at Anfield, a goal that still lives long in the memory of Tottenham supporters.
His return comes at a tense moment for the club, with Tottenham heading into the final day of the Premier League season under pressure as they battle to preserve their top-flight status.
Spurs face Everton knowing that victory would guarantee survival, while even a draw could prove enough due to their superior goal difference over rivals West Ham United.
The Hammers, meanwhile, must win their clash against Leeds United and hope Tottenham lose if they are to leapfrog Spurs in the standings.
Should both teams suffer defeat, Tottenham would still survive.
Wanyama’s appearance at the stadium is expected to lift the mood among supporters ahead of the high-stakes encounter, with many still holding deep admiration for the Kenyan’s commitment and performances in the famous white shirt.
The midfielder continues to enjoy strong support from football fans both in Kenya and abroad, with his return likely to spark memories of his influential spell in English football.
