The highly-rated shot-stopper becomes the latest Kenyan player to secure a move across the border, with his arrival further strengthening the growing Kenyan presence in Tanzania's top flight.

Pamba Jiji confirmed Ochieng's arrival through the club's official channels, welcoming the goalkeeper with a glowing message.

"Modern goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng is now part of the family, having joined from Shabana FC of Kenya. Welcome to Pamba Jiji FC," the club posted.

The transfer ends weeks of speculation surrounding Ochieng's future after attracting interest from several clubs following an outstanding 2025/26 campaign with Shabana.

The former Ulinzi Stars goalkeeper enjoyed the best season of his career, producing a string of commanding displays that helped establish Shabana among the league's strongest defensive sides.

His consistency between the posts earned him the league's Golden Glove award after finishing the season with an impressive 16 clean sheets, underlining his status as one of Kenya's finest goalkeepers.

His switch to Pamba Jiji also marks the first move abroad of his professional career, representing another major milestone for the custodian as he embarks on a new challenge in the Tanzanian top flight.

Ochieng joins a familiar Kenyan contingent at the Mwanza-based club.

Pamba Jiji is coached by former Harambee Stars assistant Francis Baraza, with John Waw serving in the technical bench, while Kenyan players Brian Eshihanda and Shaphan Oyugi are also part of the squad.

The club will be banking on Ochieng's experience and shot-stopping ability to reinforce a goalkeeping department that struggled for consistency last season.

His commanding presence, aerial dominance and ability to organize the backline are qualities Pamba hope will provide greater defensive stability.

Pamba Jiji head into the new campaign on the back of significant progress after finishing seventh in the 2024/25 Tanzania Premier League standings, a notable improvement from their 11th-place finish the previous season.

The recruitment of Ochieng signals the club's ambition to continue that upward trajectory as they seek to challenge the league's established sides and push closer to the top end of the table.
