They finally got it! UEFA investigates Draxler's transfer to Qatar

With the last three transfers to Qatar, PSG erned 80 million euros

When Abdu Diallo and Marco Verratti signed for the same club, no one doubted it. It happened before, and there will be similar examples in the future. But when Paris Saint-Germain sent Julian Draxler to Qatar, UEFA began to have doubts and that is why, according to several media, they will open an investigation to examine the business of the French champions. President Alexander Ceferin is a great friend of PSG supremo Nasser Al Khelaifi, who supported him when he fought against the Super League, but this case was so obvious that UEFA couldn’t stand by and watch. Of course, nobody can predict if the investigation will bring any results or punishment, but if the Parisians are found guilty, they will not be able to include these operations into their accounts.

One doesn’t have to be a financial or football expert to see the obvious connection between the state of Qatar and PSG, which is considered a single body, as well as the influence of Nasser Al Khelaifi, the president of the club and also the first person of the Qatar Investment Fund. So when Qatar clubs ‘rushed’ to buy three players who are no longer wanted by PSG and haven’t been a part of the first team for a long time, it was obvious that UEFA needed to intervene. The European football governing body doubts whether Qatar's latest signing Julian Draxler, is worth what he is paid. Twenty million euros have been set aside for his signature, and the real price, according to Transfermart's estimate, is around 5,000,000 euros. He played 405 minutes on loan at Benfica last season and only 540 in League 1 the year before. On top of that, his contract with PSG was about to end in 2024.

Let us remind you that parting with Verratti brought the Parisians 45,000,000, and the departure of Diallo 15,000,000 euros. PSG got a total of 80,000,000 euros from Qatar alone, which is why UEFA believes that in this way, the champion of France is "cleaning up" the business books in order to avoid sanctions due to the rules of Financial Fair Play. This is not the first time that the club owned by the investment fund Qatar is under attack from UEFA. In the past, it blocked some of the contracts with companies from that country (BeIN Sport, Qatar Tourism, Aspetar) based on the assessment that the two parties were directly connected.
