Nomadic coach
The 52-year-old started his coaching journey in Africa in 2013 with South Africa’s Cape Town under the youth coaching capacity. However, his tenure there lasted only twelve months. Throughout his career, he has had short spells at different clubs, and AFC Leopards is now his eight club in nine years. In January 2023, he was unveiled as the head coach of Malaysia’s Kelantan Football Club on a two-year contract.
Youth team involvement
Trucha is a work who has made his name in working with young players who he believes he can nurture them to be the next super stars in football. He has worked with youth teams in the past. Cape Town, he was initially responsible for scouting and recruiting talents for the club in 2014, before he elevated to the rank of the club’s youth team gaffer a position he stepped down a year later for Victoria Plzen back at his back yard. During his reign, the club's junior team was a force to reckon and produced eye catching talents in the league.
Backroom battles
During his time at various stops in Africa, Trucha faced challenges within his backroom staff. He blamed his failures on alleged backstabbing by his own coaching staff and his departure from the teams has been unceremonious. The gaffer, was once sacked from his post at Oropa United for failure too attend the teams training sessions over delayed work permit before stepping down at Township Rollers after a bust up with the club’s top hierarchy.
In his first stint with the Ingwe it can be recalled he left after less than month in charge after claims he had received threats from club supporters.
Fair winning record
Despite his failure in bagging any major accolade in his coaching career, Trucha boasts of a somewhat impressive winning percentage that has however, been ruined with his inability to stay longer at his previous work stations.
The Czech has overseen 94 games winning 41 of the matches that translates to 43.62 percent win rate while managing 21 draws and has suffered defeats 32 times.
Tiki-Taka Master
During his tenure at Township Rollers, a club in the Botswana Premier League, Tomas received praise for adopting the renowned Tiki-taka philosophy, the possession-based playing style that aligns well with AFC Leopards with the team focusing on youth team development and their aspirations to be competitive once again.
