In the Sunday afternoon clash, the Kenyan giants exhibited tactical brilliance, overpowering the 2024 winners in major aspects of the game.

Speaking after winning the title, the French tactician took time to explain the tactical masterclass that was displayed in Kwale.

“We had studied them and attracted them into our half short through short passes on build up. Police have a very solid 4-4-2 shape defensively and had worked on how to unbalance them,” said Mette.

“The idea was to attract them on short passes and deploy our wingers low to create space in behind. Their center backs are not so fast and with our pacy forwards, that is how we scored the two goals,” he added.

The two goals, scored by Ian Simiyu, were identical as he was released on the half space between Daniel Sakari and Charles Ouma.

He isolated and dribbled past the former, before cutting in to unleash low shots into the back of the net.

The former Djibouti national team head coach also shared Police's threat, that his team managed to arrest in the final.

“What worked well for us is, that we were so good at set pieces unlike in the league where we were poor in man marking.”

In the end, Tusker booked a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) and saved face after a dismal performance in the FKF Premier League.

“The Cup saved the season for us because we finished a disappointing ninth in the league but playing continental football is big for the project that we are creating.”
