Ikutwa joins the 12-time league champions from Bidco United, where he played a crucial role in helping the side avoid relegation on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Eugene Ikutwa, who joins us from Bidco United,” the club announced via their official social media platforms.
The 22-year-old has penned a two-year deal at Ruaraka and is expected to add strength, depth, and flexibility to the Brewers’ backline ahead of the new season.
Known for his composure on the ball, aerial ability, and versatility across the defensive line, Ikutwa has been one of Bidco’s standout performers over the past two seasons.
His ability to adapt across multiple roles in the back four has made him one of the most promising young defenders in the FKFPL.
He burst onto the top-flight scene in 2023 after being scouted by Bidco from the Juja-based JYSA Academy during the club’s open trials.
He was among four young talents signed that window and was immediately handed first-team duties, impressing in his debut season and attracting attention from several clubs.
Despite the interest, he opted to stay an extra year, with coach Anthony Akhulia’s side, gaining invaluable experience before leaping to one of Kenya’s most successful clubs.
Tusker head coach Charles Okere was full of praise for his new acquisition.
“We are thrilled to bring Eugene on board. He is a talented and disciplined player who fits perfectly into our style of play. His arrival gives us more options at the back as we push for silverware this season,” said Okere.
“He is young, ambitious, and I believe he will serve the club well for a long time.”
Speaking after signing his contract, Ikutwa expressed his joy at joining the former FKFPL champions.
“It is an honour to join Tusker FC, and I am truly delighted,” he said.
“Growing up, you always aspire to play for a big club, and Tusker has always been one of those teams on my wish list. The club’s winning tradition speaks for itself, and I am ready to give everything for the badge. This is a big step in my career, and I look forward to working with the coach and my new teammates.”
Ikutwa was part of the Kenya U-20 provisional squad for the recent AFCON qualifiers, though he narrowly missed out on the final selection.
