The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday, 13 January, published its list of match officials, who are expected to oversee the two semi-finals at the Tanger and Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadia.
Among them will be the Kenyan pair of Peter Waweru Kamaku and Stephen Yiembe, who are part of the last bunch of referees still standing, even as the tournament reaches its climax.
Kamaku, who was also active during the quarter-finals, will serve as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) of Senegal’s match against Egypt, scheduled for 2000 (EAT) in Tangier.
The university lecturer, who earned his FIFA badge in 2017, will work in the VAR room alongside assistants Letticia Antonella Viana of Eswatini and Cameroon’s Alvis Nguegoue.

Refereeing the match, which will also serve as the repeat of the 2021 AFCON final, will be Gabon’s Pierre Ghislain Atcho, who will be assisted by compatriots Boris Ditsonga, Amos Ndong, and Congo’s Styven Moutsassi Moyo.
Kamaku’s previous role in the quarters saw him serve as the fourth official of the Algeria versus Nigeria tie on Saturday, 10 January.
Yiembe, on the other hand, will feature in Wednesday’s other semifinal between hosts Morocco and Nigeria, which kicks off at 2300 (EAT) in Rabat.
The Kenyan, who officiated at last year’s FIFA Club World Cup, will feature as the second assistant VAR, joining South Africa’s Tom Abongile and Tunisia’s Haythem Guirat in the VAR room.

The highly anticipated fixture will be refereed by Ghana’s Daniel Laryea, flanked by Zakhele Thusi of South Africa, Souru Phatsoane of Lesotho, Mozambique’s Arsenio Maringule, and Rwanda’s Samuel Uwikunda.
Yiembe, in his last match, served as assistant VAR One in the aforementioned Algeria versus Nigeria match, which Kamaku officiated as the fourth official.
The tournament began with four Kenyan officials, the others being Gilbert Cheruiyot and Dickens Mimisa.
