The 21-time Kenyan champions confirmed Bbaale’s departure on their official social media platforms, revealing that both parties had reached a mutual agreement to part ways—effectively drawing the curtain on the striker’s brief spell at K’Ogalo.
"The club and Ugandan striker Charles Bbaale have reached a mutual agreement to part ways.
We truly appreciate his contribution during his time with us and extend our best wishes in his future pursuits,” read part of the club’s statement.
Bbaale, formerly of Ugandan giants SC Villa, joined Gor Mahia during the mid-season transfer window earlier this year from Rwandan side Rayon Sports. His stay in Nairobi, however, was short-lived.
He leaves having partly managed just a few appearances, notably making his debut as a substitute in a 2-1 victory over Mathare United, and later a starting berth in a barren draw against Tusker FC in Machakos. He also featured in Kenya Police FC and Bidco United matches.
The striker’s release marks him as the seventh player to exit the club following a disappointing, trophyless campaign that ultimately cost the entire technical bench, led by coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno, their jobs.
Others shown the door include goalkeeper Caleb Omondi, who is set to join Shabana FC; midfielder Rogers Ouma, who has joined Kakamega Homeboyz; versatile forward Samuel Onyango; Gedeon Bendeka.
Also going through the exit door are Homeboyz-bound defender Kennedy Onyango and winger Boniface Omondi, who is expected to sign for KCB FC.
Yet, while the exits dominate headlines, Gor Mahia has been equally busy reinforcing its ranks with high-profile signings.
The record league champions have secured the services of Harambee Stars quartet; goalkeeper Bryne Omondi and defender Siraj Mohamed from Bandari, defenders Michael Kibwage and Lewis Bandi from Tusker and AFC Leopards respectively.
The club is also said to have finalised the signings of Bandari’s anchorman Fidel Origa, Posta Rangers striker Felix Oluoch and Darajani Gogo forward Veron Ombima.
With Ghanaian tactician Charles Akonnor now at the helm, Gor Mahia faces the critical task of rebuilding a side capable of reclaiming lost league glory and restoring domestic dominance.
