Vanity affair: Courtois triggers chaos in Belgium team for not being captain

Apparently, the Real Madrid keeper was furious after the armband was given to Lukaku following De Bruyne's injury. So he left the team ahead of tonight's clash with Estonia
He was not stripped of the captaincy. He was never a captain. And, obviously, it bothered him a lot. Actually, too much.
After Eden Hazard said farewell to the Red Devils, Kevin de Bruyne inherited his captain's armband, but following KDB's recent injury, Belgium's new gaffer Domenico Tedesco found himself in front of a puzzle. Romelu Lukaku or Thibaut Courtois?
His choice for the game against Austria was Big Rom, and it triggered chaos as the 31-year-old custodian went berserk for being left without what he believed he deserved.
So after a 1-1 EURO 2024 qualifiers draw on Saturday night, Courtois left the national team camp.
🚨🇧🇪 Thibaut Courtois will not play vs Estonia tomorrow. He has decided not to travel because he's disappointed with the management of Domenico Tedesco (Belgium coach). In the absence of De Bruyne, Courtois was hoping to be the captain vs Austria. @hlnsport pic.twitter.com/UXkMpPBYAF

Media in Belgium reported that he had told his national teammates that he was unhappy because he wasn't the captain and didn't join the team's camp ahead of Monday's game against Estonia.
To make things even more bizarre, Tedesco's idea was a sort of joint captaincy - Lukaku was the captain against Austria, and Courtois was supposed to be the captain against Estonia. Alas, we won't see any of that tonight, nor Courtois himself.
