The former KCB right back attributed their inconsistencies to the influx of new players in the off-season transfer window
Nzoia Sugar, right back Brian Wepo is calling on his teammates to build on their 1-0 win over the Kario bangi Sharks over the weekend and start their march out of the danger zone.
The sugar millers registered their second win of the season last Saturday, beating the Sharks by a solitary goal to move to 14th place with nine points.
Before the win over the Sharks, Nzoia had put in worrying performances, having failed to gather maximum points in eight matches, a run that had placed them in the red zone.
The win over the Sharks could be the club's turning point, according to Wepo, who said it didn't come with three points but also confidence to win the next round of matches.
Wepo, who returned to Nzoia before the season began after parting ways with Sofapaka, said watching the club languish in the lower slots of the bottom half was unacceptable and asked his colleagues to give the best for the badge.
"If we build on the win over the Sharks, we will turn our season around. We started well but began to struggle. We want the team to be as competitive and in the top half," said the flanker.
The former KCB right back attributed their inconsistencies to the influx of new players in the off-season transfer window and the limited time the team had in the pre-season.
Nzoia were forced to shop for new players after losing most of the players who helped the club achieve a top-four finish last season under coach Salim Babu, who also quit for Kenya Police.
"It was obvious that we would take some time before gelling fully. We are not yet there, but at least there is progress," he explained.
Meanwhile, Wepo, who has twice played centre-back this season, opened up about the possibility of switching to the heart of the defense permanently in the future.
"I liked the central defence. Probably I will switch in the future," said the former national U20 defender.
