The forward joined the dockers on the back of being the top scorer in the National Super League
Last season’s National Super League top scorer Nyamawi Beja was hugely expected to hit the road running at his new work station, Bandari.
The forward made a big switch to the dockers from SS Assad in the off-season transfer window after a breakthrough season in the second tier.
You could easily spot the enthusiasm in the Bandari fraternity following the arrival of the forward who was viewed as the man to bear the lions share of the scoring responsibilities.
Three rounds in the top flight, Beja is yet to open his goal account a run that can be a rich source of pressure for any striker in the league.
However, the player is unperturbed with the wait for the first goal in Bandari colours insisting that, once the deadlock is broken, there will no stopping.
“I am not under pressure at all. One thing I know is once I score my first, goals will come. I am doing my best to open the goal account,” he said.
When asked on what might have triggered the slow take off at Bandari, Beja conceded that it has taken him a while to adapt to the demands of the top flight.
He also, regretted that a knock he picked in round two against Sofapaka at the Kasarani Annex slowed his progress.
“Of course, I didn’t expect to have a great start considering that I am new at this level. I feel I am almost there in terms of adapting to the league. I haven’t gotten sufficient minutes due to a slight knock but once I start getting regular game time, I can assure that I will score for fun,” he claimed.
Banadri kicked off the season with a 1-0 home loss against Tusker before beating Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars in identical 1-0 score lines in the subsequent matches.
The Twahir Muhiddin-coached side is expected to play KCB this weekend in Nairobi.
