The midfielder was unveiled on Wednesday morning
The 2009 league champions Sofapaka caught many by surprise when they unveiled the experienced Humphrey Mieno on Wednesday.
Mieno had been a free agent since leaving Tusker two months ago following the expiry of his contract with the club he skippered the last two seasons.
The veteran midfielder had kept a low since leaving the Brewers camp only to emerge at Sofapaka where he will feature for the third spell following the latest development.
Mieno revealed that a call from Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa was enough to convince him to return to the club nine years later.
"Kalekwa convinced me to join the team and help achieve the set objectives. He is a man I had worked for twice before and when he reached out, I couldn't turn down the offer and his request," revealed Mieno.
The league-winning midfielder first joined Sofapaka in December 2009 from KCB and served the outfit up to July 2011 when Tunisian giants Club African came calling.
Mieno returned to Sofapaka in December of the same year after Club African loaned him for his development. He would make a permanent transfer to Batoto Ba Mungu in January 2014 from Azam.
"Sofapaka and Kalekwa marketed me to the world. It is a club that I consider home as well. When I was asked to render service for the third time, I didn't hesitate to take up the challenge," he told Mozzart Sport.
Meanwhile, Mieno believes that something good is brewing at the club and there is a big possibility of the team making it to the podium.
"The team is rebuilding well and at some point, I believe titles will come. We only have to be a little bit patient with the team as new players are yet to blend in well," he added.
