Speaking exclusively to Mozzart Sport, the experienced tactician did not hold back, describing the refereeing as “unfair and inconsistent.”
Pamzo singled out centre referee Dan Ogosi, criticizing a penalty awarded to Mara Sugar, which he deemed “soft” and unjustified.
He also questioned a decision to deny Posta Rangers a spot-kick when Caleb Olilo was brought down in the six-yard box.
Mara Sugar’s Drona Langa converted from the penalty spot to cancel out Brian Otieno’s first-half goal, leaving both sides to share the spoils.
“I am disappointed with the officiating that day. Normally, I do not complain, but this is the first. We were leading comfortably then, out of nowhere, the referee awards a soft penalty to Mara Sugar.
It should not have stood. At the same time, Olilo was clearly fouled in the box, yet the referee did nothing. That inconsistency is why I am frustrated,” Pamzo said.
Despite his frustrations, Pamzo acknowledged his team’s encouraging performance.
He contrasted the current campaign with last season, where Posta Rangers were languishing at the bottom of the table after nine rounds.
The former Kenya international praised his players’ commitment while also highlighting defensive frailties, which he described as “soft goals” that his technical bench is working to rectify.
“The team is progressing well. We are currently in the top five, compared to last season when we had no hope. The main issue has been conceding soft goals, goals that we ought to prevent.
Overall, I am satisfied with the team’s performance, and we are working to strengthen the backline to remain compact,” Pamzo added.
Posta Rangers will aim to return to winning ways when they face Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday, 23 November, at Bukhungu Stadium.
