The Law Enforcers laboured for a goalless draw against AFC Leopards, in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash staged on Saturday.
Despite coming under sustained pressure, especially in the opening exchanges, Police stood firm at the back, with goalkeeper Job Ochieng producing a string of crucial saves to keep Leopards at bay in the first half.
Police also relied on last-ditch defending in the closing stages, with David 'Cheche' Ochieng emerging as an unlikely hero after making a vital goal-line clearance to deny Ingwe a dramatic late winner.
Speaking after the match, Stojanović described the encounter as a demanding contest between two evenly matched sides, noting that both teams created chances but lacked the cutting edge to turn pressure into goals.
“It was a tough match. Both teams had their own moments and chances, but this is football. You can win, you can lose, or you can draw. Today, we got one point, and considering how competitive the game was, it is a fair result,” Stojanović told Azam TV.
The Serbian tactician further revealed that tactical adjustments in the second half were influenced by disciplinary concerns, particularly after Taychick Musengo picked up a first-half yellow card and was warned by the referee.
He explained that the decision to make changes was necessary to avoid the risk of going down to ten men while maintaining balance in midfield.
“Musengo got a yellow card in the first half, and even the referee told him that the next tackle could send him off. Because of that, we had to make a tactical change to manage the game better,” he said.
Stojanović added that such decisions are part of the strategic nature of football, especially in tightly contested fixtures where fine margins often determine the outcome.
“If we talk about chances, both teams can argue they deserved more. But that is football, and this time it ended in a draw,” he added.
The point proved crucial for Kenya Police, as it was enough to lift them to the top of the FKF Premier League table ahead of their upcoming fixture against Murang’a Seal, underlining their growing credentials as title contenders.
