No Munich club’s player will feature in the World Cup final for the first time since 1982, while the Nerazzurri will have a representative in the 12th consecutive showpiece
Ahead of the World Cup, Mozzart Sport Kenya's "WC Countdown" series featured an article about the remarkable tradition involving Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and World Cup finals.
Since 1982, the Bavarians and the Nerazzurri each have had at least one player in the trophy match. However, after 44 years, this pattern will be broken for the German club.
Despite sending as many as 17 players across 10 national teams to the tournament, Bayern won't have a representative in the final.
Their French duo, Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano, along with England captain Harry Kane, came closest to featuring in the showpiece, but fell short in the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Inter's run will go on.

Although only six of their players featured in the World Cup, they'll have a man competing for the world crown for the 12th consecutive time. On Sunday, it will be their skipper, Lautaro Martinez, whose stoppage-time winner booked Argentina's place in the decisive showdown.
Had France beaten Spain in the first semi-final, the Nerazzurri would still have been represented in the final by Marcus Thuram.
