Ulinzi Starlets head coach Collins Ochieng has revealed why he still believes his side can clinch the FKF Women's Premier League (WPL) title despite suffering a painful defeat to rivals Kenya Police Bullets.

Ulinzi, who had been enjoying a strong run of form, saw their title hopes dented after a humiliating 3-0 loss to the law enforcers, a result that handed Police a major advantage in the race for the crown.
The military side now sits second on the table with 41 points, two behind Police Bullets, who still have a game in hand with only three matches left before the curtain falls on the season.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Ochieng admitted that things did not go according to plan against Police but insisted his side is not ready to surrender the fight just yet.
“It was a bad day for us against police bullets. I even got my tactics wrong on the day. My players also soaked in the pressure and, unfortunately, succumbed to it.
In spite of that, we are not throwing in the towel yet. We are still in it until the final whistle. However, we are cognisant of the fact that our fate is not in our hands and we are dependent on results elsewhere,” said Ochieng.
“We will just take one game at a time, win ours and see how the rest of the teams fare,” he added.
Despite the setback, Ochieng still considers the campaign a successful one even if Ulinzi fails to go all the way and lift the title.
“We have done well for ourselves this season and have surpassed our targets. No one even knew we would achieve this much; we were already written off.
We were written off when we lost Sheryl (Angachi) to injury and lost six players to military recruitment and to transfers, but we signed players from school who gelled well with the seniors and formed a good foundation for our team,” he explained.
Ulinzi will now shift focus to their next assignment, a home clash against Gideon Starlets set for Saturday, May 2, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex from 11:00 am.
