Five teams will represent the country in the forthcoming 35th edition of the men's and 26th edition of the women’s (ACCC) in Egypt.

The much-anticipated hockey tournament is scheduled to run from 30 January to 7 February in Egypt.

The Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) entered five teams into the tournament, with three from the men’s competition and two from the women’s league.

Reigning men’s league champions Western Jaguars will have the company of United States International University-Africa (USIU-A) Mashujaa and former league winners, Sikh Union in Egypt.

The three Kenyan teams will have their bids for the continental crown put to thorough tests by some of the continental giants, who have also enrolled for the tournament.

Egypt has four teams in the tournament including defending champions Sharkia Sporting Club and Zamalek, who are regarded as one of fierce competitors.

The ever-present Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Nigeria’s Police Machine have a rich history of strong performances in the tournament.

Just like Kenya, Nigeria will have three teams in the tournament with Ghana having a single representative.

Jaguars will hope to go a step higher on the podium having finished second in the 2023 edition in Malawi.

The Kakamega-based club lost 4-2 in the finals with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA Ladies) claiming the title after finishing at the top of their group.

Kenya will have Mombasa Sports Club and the United States International University-Africa (USIU-A) Spartans in the women’s competition.

Kenya last hosted the tournament in February 2022 with the leading gaming firm Mozzart Bet being the title sponsor.

Sharkia and the Ghana Revenue Authority women’s team clinched top honours during the closing ceremony at the Dashmesh Stadium.
