The Rift Valley prevailing champions successfully defended their regional gong on Sunday after seeing apart Moi University 39-19 in the finals held at the University of Eldoret court.
Kabarak apprized their title defense by flooring a stubborn Moi University side, a long-time heavyweight in KUSA games before losing 39-38 to Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Eldoret Campus and went on to take mandate of their pool on 10 points.
Kabarak tactician David Mwangi termed their shocking loss to CUEA as a reality check that kept them grounded to their course.
In the last eight, they squired out against Masai Mara University and rose to the occasion, dominating the third and fourth quarters to secure an all-important victory.
In the semis, the varsity boys overcame the hosts University of Eldoret 25-20 in a hard-fought battle with both teams displaying incredible pliability.
Kabarak were in impervious form in the finals claiming all four quarters against Moi University in a display head coach Mwangi termed as a show of their intent to extend their dominance in the inter-varsity games.
"We were the defending champions of the game, and we totally managed to defend our title, although the matches were far from easy,” he said.
“They gave us a hard time but we managed to beat them. We now have to focus on our preparations for the national games.”
While lauding his teammates for an excellent outing in Eldoret, skipper Gregory Osano says they will focus on clinching the national title as they aim to qualify for elite leagues.
“We defended our title which we won last year, I am proud of my teammates for putting up a big fight. We are already preparing for the upcoming KUSF Nationals in the Western region," he noted.
The national games will be held at Masinde Muliro University March next year.
