
KPA through to Africa Club Championships quarters after edging Nigerian Spikers

National women's champions Kenya Pipeline have advanced to the round of sixteen after edging Co Decaretes of Cote d’Ivoure
Kenya Ports Authority has sailed to the quarterfinals of the ongoing African men’s Clubs Championship after beating Chief Naval Staff Spikers of Nigeria 3-1(25-18, 17-25, 25-20, 25-22) in a round of sixteen match played on Wednesday.
KPA have been on impressive form in the tournament as the coastal side cruised past the preliminary stage seamlessly having won two and lost one.
KPA beat Cameroon Sports Volleyball club 3-1 in the opening match but couldn’t maintain the winning streak as the team lost Jill Saad Commune Ouled Aduone (JSCOA) of Algeria 3-2.
The Sammy Mulinge coached side recovered from the defeat to beat Iseg to finish second in pool C.
Meanwhile, national Women champions Kenya Pipeline have advanced to the round of sixteen after edging Co Decaretes of Cote d’Ivoure 3-0 (25-11,25-9 and 25-11) in their final group C match.
Consequently, the Paul Gitau’s girls join defending champions KCB in the knockout stages.
The bankers had beaten Asca Saltigue of Senegal 3-0(25-11,25-13,25-15) on Tuesday to finish unbeaten in pool B.
The team has won all its group stage matches and as a result, sit at the top of the pool with nine points.
Pipeline, who settled for the bronze medal last year in Tunisia, had beatenMouloudia Club d'Alger 3-1(25-21,20-25,25-18,25-21) and Chief Naval Staff Spikers from Nigeria 3-1(25-12,21-25,25-13,27-25) in the previous group stage matches.
