Murangiri powers Strathmore to tenth KHF victory

The top six men's sides at the conclusion of the regular league qualify for the Super Cup.
Brian Murangiri was unstoppable for Peter Mwathi-coached Strathmore side as he put eight past Boomerang to aide the varsity side clinch their tenth victory of the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) men's league in a 37-22 outcome.
It was a close affair in the first half with the two sides separated by a single goal (14-13) at the end of the 30 minutes, setting the stage for an exciting second half.
Mwathi's charges, however, returned for the seconds half gears switched and went on a scoring spree for the 15-goal victory.
Boomarang's Josephat Oigo created all manner of problems for Strathmore, scoring nine but his individual brilliance was just not enough to break the varsity side that had more of their players scoring.
In other men's league matches of the day, University of Eldoret (UoE) Pippers blew hot and cold, recording a 28-25 victory against Nairobi County Council (NCC) before falling 45-28 to Buccaneers.
The victory against NCC was powered by a spectacular show from Daniel Ombasa and Nehemiah Kosgei who scored seven goals a piece in the win.
Buccaneers' win, meanwhile, was the eight in 13 matches with Jecton Oyugi, Randy Ochieng and Fortune Isaac contributing eight goals each for the win. Kosgei, emerged the match's top scorer at nine.
In the women’s league, Rangers picked two crucial wins, beating New Hope 40-17 before seeing off NCC 32-15.
