Strathmore take on Thika as KHF action enters homestretch

Strathmore University, fifth on the log take on Thika Engineers in a Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) men's league clash slated for Saturday 4 March at Nyayo Handball Court. 

The varsity side is chasing their 13th win in 15 matches and are hoping to continue their campaign from where they left off when they last featured against Technical University of Kenya (TUK). 

NOC-K to hold beach games extravaganza in Malindi

Coach Peter Mwathi's charges won their last two fixtures 23-22 against Kenyatta University and 28-13 against TUK. However, against Thika, they have a tough match on their hands. 

So far, the side has lost twice; to secondary school side Inspired Boys and to holders National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) and are keen to keep it that way and move up the standings for a better seeding in the Super Cup. 

The varsity side is up against a charged Thika side still chasing a Super Cup slot and are have proven time and again to be a tough opponent for the top teams. 

The Kenneth Biwott-coached Thika side, in their last outing, faced off with General Service Unit (GSU) losing 30-26, and are ready to give Strathmore a run for their money. 

The team's depth will, however, be put to the test as two of their key players picked injuries in the match against GSU and are likely to miss the match. 

In others men's league matches, Young City play Dessert Scorpions while Boomerang take on unbeaten Ulinzi HC. 

Ulinzi are out to continue their unbeaten run and keep the pressure on leaders NCPB who are also unbeaten. 

The match against Boomerang is the military side's first clash this year and is likely to help them ready for GSU's test as the two are set to face off on Sunday. 

In the women's league, Ulinzi Sharks are scheduled to play two matches against Rising Stars and Net Navigators. New Hope take on Rising Stars in the other match.
