South Africa reaffirmed their status as the giants of Africa after cruising to a 22–0 victory over Kenya Lionesses, in the final of the Africa Women’s 7s, on Sunday 16 November at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

The dominant win secured South Africa their 12th Africa Women’s 7s title and confirmed their promotion to the SVNS Series Division Three next season.

Both teams entered the showdown unbeaten.

Coach Cecil Afrika’s Springbok Women arrived with four straight wins and an extraordinary defensive record, having not conceded a single point in the tournament.

The Lionesses, meanwhile, were chasing their second continental crown after last lifting the trophy in 2018.

They had finished runners-up seven times, including back-to-back silver medals in 2023 and 2024.

The final lived up to expectations with a cagey, tactical opening half.

Kenya absorbed pressure and defended smartly, but their rhythm suffered when star winger Janet Okello was forced off with an injury, with Edith Nariaka replacing her.

South Africa eventually broke the deadlock in the dying seconds of the first half when Shiniqwa Lamprecht stepped past the defence to score.

With the conversion in, the Blitzboks Women led 7–0 at halftime.

The second half belonged to South Africa.

Just two minutes in, captain Nadine Roos created space on the outside, before releasing Simamkele Namba, who sprinted across the line for their second try.

Substitute Patience Mokone added another try shortly after, using her strength to power over and stretch the advantage to 17–0.

A final-minute try sealed a 22–0 win, completing a flawless tournament in which South Africa did not concede a single point.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s Lady Cranes produced a strong and a polished performance to beat Madagascar 33–12, securing bronze.
