Beleaguered Shujaa out to save face in Day Two of Seville 7s

Shujaa will be looking to bounce back against Canada and Scotland after being obliterated by Australia.

Kenya men’s national sevens side, Shujaa will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Canada and Scotland in their remaining pool D matches set to be played on Saturday at the ongoing Seville 7s.

Innocent Simiyu’s charges have endured a torrid season winning only four games in the entire season after four legs of the HSBC World Seven Series.

Shujaa were off to a faltering start in the Seville 7s after losing 42-0 to Australia which broke their record victory over Kenya.

Kenya failed to get going as they failed to cross the Australian five-meter line and greased a number of tackles with the Aussies having a field day.

Before the tournament kicked off head coach Innocent Simiyu spoke of finding consistency in their game as he aimed for a place in the Main Cup quarter-finals.

“Our key focus now is to hit our performance standards consistently in a game. Hopefully, qualify first for the quarters. The boys have recovered well and are ready to go,” said Simiyu.

Shujaa will face an uphill battle of qualifying for the quarters as they need nothing short of a win in their games against Canada and Scotland and also improve on their points difference.

Kenya looked like a side bereft of confidence in the opening game of Seville 7s as they failed to string a number of passes with Australia at some point putting together over 30 passes before landing a try.

The clash against Canada is slated for a 10:45 am (EAT) kick-off while Scotland's encounter is pencilled for a 4:13 pm (EAT) kick-off.
