They are in Pool A where they will face off with Christie 7s champions KCB Rugby, Homeboyz RFC, and Mombasa RFC

As Tisap 7s beckons and the pressure to claim the inaugural title mounts, Blak Blad RFC have remained undeterred, turning to their faith to propel them through the much-anticipated tournament set for this weekend at the Eldoret Sports Club.

Blak Blad joined top guns in the quarterfinals of the Christie 7s, but were disqualified from title contention by Nakuru RFC who narrowly edged them 12-7.

According to coach Benard Rotich, the students will be looking to build up, if not replicate their Christie 7s performance. They bagged 10 points in Christie 7s, which was their best performance in the circuit so far. This was an improvement from the opening leg in Dala where they left the lakeside city without a point.

“Generally, it was good to see the young boys performing better as compared to the other legs,” Rotich offered.

The coach also said that the two-week break gave them an opportunity to right their wrongs and sharpen claws ahead of Tisap 7s. He further noted that the young boys in the team had merged into their style of play.

Blak Blad lost their key players like Lionel Ajeliti and Nick Okullo to KCB Rugby before the circuit’s kickoff. The students have begun registering passionate men and women to join the club.

“We shall review and work on those Grey areas more to improve and also put more effort on where we did well. The boys played as a team. I am proud of the young boys in the team,” he told Mozzart Sport.

Rotich also said that the students’ various facets of play; “I guess I will work on being more clinical on execution and also discipline.”

With finances still a mountain issue for the institution, the coach thanked their allies for supporting them during their journeys to matches.

“Challenges may have been a relief but we are really grateful to teams like prisons, Ap rugby and our supporters for making sure we make it there,” he said.

Blak Blad will have an uphill task in Pool A where they will face off with Christie 7s champions KCB Rugby, Homeboyz RFC, and Mombasa RFC.

Speaking on the pools, Rotich said that the boys were ready to tackle any team that came their way, insisting on their unwavering reliance on faith in God.

“With sport anything is possible so we are prepared for any team that comes our way and that way we focus on us. We pray that God be on our side during and let Him not go to the enemies side either,” he concluded.

The inaugural edition of Tisap 7s will be played this weekend at the Eldoret Sports Club. The circuit is making a grand return to Eldoret for the first time since 2019 when Sepetuka 7s was played at the same venue.
