Oilers run riot in Nakuru
In contrast, Menengai Oilers delivered one of the most dominant displays of the round, thrashing Toyota Buffaloes 60-15 at the ASK Nakuru Showground.
Despite early resistance from the Ugandan side, Oilers struck first through a well-executed rolling maul, with Destrious Ifedha touching down for the opening try.
Although Abutwalib Wesonga missed the conversion, it set the tone for what would become a one-sided affair.
Oilers quickly shifted gears, with Alvin Khavoli slicing through the defense before Wesonga added the extras for a 12-0 lead.
Brian Achacha then powered over after beating multiple defenders, stretching the advantage to 19-0 inside the opening quarter.
The hosts continued to dominate possession and territory, with Wallace Onyango and Philip Okeyo both crossing over to hand Oilers a commanding 31-0 lead.
Buffaloes briefly responded with penalty kicks to cut the deficit to 31-6, but Achacha’s second try ensured Oilers went into the break firmly in control at 36-6.
Second half
The closing half followed a similar script. Khavoli combined effectively with Wesonga for two quick tries, both converted, to extend the lead to 50-6.
Although Buffaloes added more points through penalties and capitalised on a temporary numerical advantage following a yellow card to Lucky Onyango, Oilers remained relentless.
