They will compete against Buffaloes, Sailors, and Silverbacks

From Saturday 26 to Sunday 27 October, the Kings Park Arena Bweyogerere will throw its doors open to an extraordinary event; the Kitaka 10s.

This two-day tournament will feature 12 men’s teams and six women’s teams from Kenya and Uganda, in what promises to be a showcase of top-tier rugby talent.

Among the teams competing will be 2024 National 7s Circuit champions Kenya Harlequin.

Quins headline Pool A, where they will compete against Buffaloes, Sailors, and Silverbacks. The Ngong Road-based team is using this competition as a crucial part of their preseason training ahead of the 2024/25 Kenya Cup season.

In addition to Kitaka 10s, Quins will be playing several friendlies in Uganda as they gear up for the Kenya Cup, skipping this year’s Impala Floodlit tournament, which has traditionally marked their preseason.

In Pool B, last year’s finalists, Black Pirates, will face the Rams, Elgon Wolves, and Tororo Crests in what should be a thrilling battle.

Pool C features hosts KOBs, who will compete against Rhinos, Kampani Eagles, and Makerere Select.

KOBs Rugby Club is organizing this second edition of the Kitaka 10s, drawing in a diverse range of teams which promises fans an intense competition from start to finish.

For the women’s tournament, the Panthers will take on the Black Pearls, Thunderbirds, She-Wolves, Ewes, and Kisubi Lady Pacers. Uganda’s Black Pearls, the reigning champions in the women’s category, will be aiming to defend their title after a successful run in last year’s edition, where they clinched victory alongside the Nondescripts, who won the men’s category.

The Quins will field a formidable squad led by co-captains Marvin Ng’ang’a and Mathew Ouma, alongside seasoned players Michael Ochieng, Wycliffe Ochieng, Mike Munene, Collins Bett, and Felix Odhiambo.

Other additions to the lineup are: Alvin Otieno, Livingston Otieno, Bradley Odero, Vincent Omondi, Moses Matonda, William Wagala, and Myles Wangoi.
