The winners will earn a direct ticket to the Championship level

The fixtures for the KRU nationwide semifinals have been released ahead of the matches scheduled for Saturday, April 4.

Four teams that survived the intense quarterfinal stage will face off in the semis.

All eyes will shift to the respective venues come Saturday. The winners will earn a direct ticket to the Championship level.

Mombasa RFC vs Kitale RFC

Kitale RFC will make a long trip to the Coastal region to tackle former Kenya Cup side Mombasa RFC.

The Coastal team was relegated from the Kenya Cup side at the end of the 2017/18 season.

Their poor form continued, and two years later in 2020, they were relegated from the Championship level after losing 18-13 to Mean Machine.

They will be keen to restore their glory. In the quarterfinal, the side edged Sigalagala RFC 18-13. Allan Kasiti’s charges will have to wait longer to climb to the second tier.

Kitale RFC on the other hand will be keen to climb to the Championship level after their attempts were cut short by a narrow 11-10 loss to Zetech University last season.

The side, coached by Ben Amboko has had an impressive run this season and beat Administration Police 9-3 at the JKUAT Grounds in the quarterfinal stage.

JKUAT vs Moi University

The Thika road-based institution will welcome Moi University for the second semi-final which will be played at 3.00 pm at the JKUAT Grounds.

Moi University head to this semifinal after defeating Makueni RFC 33-15 in the quarter-finals played at the University’s grounds. JKUAT on the other hand handed Machakos University a 19-8 beating to advance to this stage.
