
Lionesses player Judith Okumu included in Rugby 10s Championship squad

The event which is now in its 3rd edition (R10C), promises thrilling display of rugby skills and talents.
Lionesses star Judith Okumu is among the Kenyans set to represent the Elephants in the upcoming 2023 Rugby 10s Championship scheduled to take place at the Charles Morkel Stadium in Strand, Cape Town on November 18, 22, and 25, 2023.
The 2023 Rugby Tens Championship is a professional series-format competition for both men and women and amateur for boys and girls that showcases equal opportunities at every level.
Men, women, boys, and girls' teams participate as part of their franchises and compete for Division and Franchise Trophies. This year's edition is set to host a star-studded cast of rugby talent, featuring renowned names from both the sevens and 15s formats of the game.
The youngster was part of the Lionesses team that saw off Colombia 21-5 to retain WXV3 status. Okumu bagged the Most Valuable Player award at the 2023 Christie 7s played from August 12-13. She plays her club rugby for Impala RFC.
The talented scrum half is joined by the Lionesses trio of Stellah Wafula, Christabel Lindo, and Grace Okulu.
In the men's category, former Kenya 7s star Oscar Ouma leads the pack. Among his accolades include captaining Kenya 7s national team; Shujaa and representing them in the Olympics.
Joining him in representing the Elephants are fellow Kenyan Internationals Collins Shikoli, Alvin Marube, and Michael Agevi.
Elkeans Musonye, a vintage Kenya Simbas and Menengai Oilers' backrower will be a part of the Rhinos, a team under the guidance of coach Lorinda Brown du Plessis.
This championship not only features seasoned campaigners but also introduces exciting new prospects and international rugby stars who have left their mark on the world stage, including the Olympics and the World Cup.
The international flavor of the tournament is evident with sevens players from across the globe, including those who have proudly represented their countries in prestigious events like the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and the HSBC 7s Series.
Additionally, a contingent of 15s players with international experience on the global stage will also grace the tournament.
