Shujaa is part of the 16 core teams that will play in the 10 men's rounds of the series.

The Kenya national rugby seven’s side, Shujaa will play in three new legs of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series as per the 2022 schedule that was released on Tuesday 12 October.

The three new host cities include Malaga and Seville in Spain that will take place on 21-23 and 28-30 January 2022 respectively and Toulouse in France that is slated for 20-22 May next year.

The Spanish legs temporarily replace traditional series hosts Sydney, Australia, and Hamilton, New Zealand, who were unable to host in 2022 due to logistical challenges.

The 2022 Series will kick off in Dubai with back to back tournaments, the first being played behind closed doors on 26-27 November 2021, followed by a second event on 3-4 December with fans in attendance.

Shujaa is part of the 16 core teams alongside Argentina, Australia, Canada, England, Fiji, France, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Samoa, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, USA and Wales.

The series will feature 10 men’s and seven women’s rounds over six months with South Africa coming into the tournament as reigning champions following the two-legged 2021 series that was shortened due to Covid-19.

Shujaa finished third in the 2021 season after losing to South Africa in the Vancouver finals and finishing third at the Edmonton 7s.

In the Dubai tournament, Great Britain will compete before reverting to compete as national unions for the remainder of the 2022 Series, with England, Scotland and Wales.
