Collins Injera enjoyed some brilliant moments on the field for the Kenya Sevens rugby team - racking an impressive 261 career tries in 16 years- a stat that ranks him second on the World Sevens series all time highest try scorers list.
“It’s fantastic news that Collins is able to join us in person to be formally inducted into the Melrose Sevens Hall of Fame,” Melrose Sevens Tournament Director Phil Morris said of the announcement. “He had an incredible career on the sevens circuit and we look forward to welcoming him here to Melrose.”
This is the second time Injera is being inducted into an international level Hall of Fame after being inducted alongside Fiji 7s star of the 90s Noa Ndaruku in the Fiji Rugby Hall of Fame at the Coral Sevens in January this year.
“I am really looking forward to visiting the Greenyards- the home of rugby sevens- a game that has meant so much to me and I am really honored to be inducted into the Melrose Sevens Hall of Fame,” Injera was quoted as saying. “I look forward to seeing everyone in Melrose next week and being part of the event.”
